Jubilee Krumlov will welcome real legends

17. 4. 2023 Dalibor Benych Press Releases

Only a few weeks are left until the start of the jubilee 50th Rallye Český Krumlov which will welcome the entire domestic elite of contemporary and historic cars crews on the weekend of May 19 and 20, 2023; the event is a traditional part of their national championships. However, it is already obvious that this May the participation in the south of Bohemia will be even more colourful, with an above-average number of foreign guests expected. And it’s not just the fact that the event is also included in the calendar of the international FIA European Rally Trophy or the cross-border INOTECH electronic Regional Rally Cup. Very attractive this year will also be the Rally Legends Show which will celebrate its fifteenth year in Krumlov and which, in the beginning (i.e. in 2007), de facto brought this discipline to the Czech Republic.

“We wish to continue in the tradition of especially the first years of this competition when really interesting crews were arriving from Italy and other corners of Europe with attractive cars,” says Pavel Kacerovský, the main organizer of the event, and continues to explain: “Unfortunately, like at many other places, various limitations and cost saving measures were gradually introduced in the past years, and the most legendary cars gradually disappeared from our event. However, this year we have decided to honour the 50th anniversary by continuing in the tradition and lure a starting field as attractive as possible, so that the spectators enjoy the race at its best. There are really interesting cars and attractive crews announced or promised to take part, so it is even possible in theory that we will have to make a selection after the deadline and not everyone will be able to take part – the track capacity is simply limited.

At the moment, for example the Italian Tordi with his strong Lancia Delta Integrale is already registered, however more Italians intend to take part. Also members of the well-known German club Slowly Sideways will come with Opels, Mercedes’s or e.g. with a replica of Toyota Celica TA 22 which Ove Anderson with Arne Hertz drove at the British RAC Rally in 1975. The domestic driver Michal Pavlík will not be missing at the start, together with a Saab 96, an ex-car of the famous Stig Blomqvist. Also the popular globetrotter from Finland Jari Hämälainen will sure wish to recollect his successful participation in 2011; then he fought the whole top of the Czech historic championship and this time he will be fighting for tenths of seconds with his Mercedes-Benz 190 within the main start field. Of course, we are looking forward also to domestic crews who are sending their entries in high numbers, many of them can make a bigger show on the track with their weaker cars than our foreign guests,” smiles Kacerovský. Let’s add that the first deadline for entries is almost knocking on the door, for Rallye Legends Show it is set to April 24, and the same date applies to participants who wish to enjoy a reduced entry fee for entries to the “sharp” competition of the jubilee 50th Rallye Český Krumlov.
