Exactly 50 years will pass this year since Rallye Český Krumlov was founded. Under normal circumstances, we would celebrate the jubilee of the traditional South Bohemian rally not only on special stages, but mainly in the magical scenery under the castle walls. However…
Organizer proposes, coronavirus disposes. The development of the epidemic is not as favourable as many expected, and all kinds of restrictions will be gradually released very slowly. Although we would most likely receive an exemption from the Ministry of Health for holding the event in May, we do not want to organize a sterile race without any atmosphere.
Part of the program of Rallye Český Krumlov in recent years has been a meeting of drivers and fans on the Holkov summer dance floor, a special stage and service zone on the exhibition grounds, widely attended regrouping in the streets of Kaplice or the finish podium ceremony in the heart of a UNESCO-listed town. There is perhaps no need to introduce to any of the fans the traditional spectator places in Svatý Ján, Malonty or Soběnov.
Can you imagine cancelling most of it and running Rallye Český Krumlov behind closed doors? We can’t! Nevertheless, we want to organize the event this year.
The summer months are taboo for the organization of our rally due to the influx of visitors to the busy South Bohemia, so our solution is to postpone the event to one of the autumn dates. The change of the calendar now depends on the results of our negotiations with Autoklub ČR.
